Good that you mention your workaround It's always a good idea to install the faceAPI demo, if you experience problems. The IPP-library is shipped with the faceAPI and works fine on my PC(s). Thanks for your feedback I have seen some others report such a waterfall problem, but cannot reproduce it. V4Friend, thanks for adapting FaceAPI for use in games like IL-2! Here's what I have so far, but I'm not using 6DOF yet: I've been trying to find the ideal settings and would like others to post theirs. The FaceAPI Demo can be uninstalled after everything is working, the IPP runtime library will remain installed. I used this guide to get everything working: However the runtime library does install correctly with the FaceAPI Demo. It seems to install correctly, but then gives this on program launch: Error at loading of IPPM library, No DLLs were found in the waterfall procedure. The runtime library you have here:ĭoesn't work. I've tested it on two systems, both Windows 7, one's 32bit and one's 64bit.Ī few comments for V4Friend. I went out and picked up a PS3 Eye just to try this out, and have to say it's pretty good.

Just my thoughts for whatever they may be worth.they were given for free so they may be worth nothing lol. My thought is that if you two could come up with a way to track a known geometric design, rather than a face, the system would be much more stable.as in it would not lose track of the face as often.

The problem with FreeTrack is mainly the hassle of set up (build a reflector/LED caop and modify your webcam).

My question is: Can your software be modified to follow something more easily tracked, like a printed out design (on another forum you talked of being familiar with a software package that is no longer in development that did just that). I think you guys are doing something WONDERFUL, please don't take any criticism I might give as downing your product. My system is definitely not high end, but it's not low end either, probably right in the middle for an average gamer. things get smoother once it finds the face again. Still, I get a huge slow down when the software is searching for my face. Just for the record, I have a dual core 2.6 GHZ AMD. I have been following your posts on various websites :). The facetracking really just gets out of whack or fails too often. I am wondering if a goofy hat set up (either LED, LED tape, or a printable design) might be an option. Really though, this is a great start to the program. The re-centering does not seem to work very well and it would be very nice if the key could be assigned by the user (much like the backspace you be user assigned). Again, that is my experience, there may be other causes.

#Facetracknoir ps3 eye update#
You have to use the icon that comes with the update to start the program. The missing qtcored4.dll error happened when I hit the shortcut icon that was attached to the un-updated version. The ippcore-5.3 error is cured once you install the faceAPI software as it installs the. There may be other causes, but that was mine. The "Could not build engine base" error came up when I tried opening the program while my webcam software was already running. No offense to the development team, but the readme files should contain the information that the FaceAPI is needed as a separate download. What I learned on the journey to getting this thing working: TrackIR may be in my future, I just hate giving my wife any more ammunition to use against me for my gaming geekiness by wearing a cap with LED's on it :). I now feel I NEED such a system for simming, but this one is not quite ready (it is a WiP too LOL). As it searches again for your face, there is a noticeable slow down in performance. My view control then defaults to the HAT switch on my stick, which is ok.īut, it is a bit of resource hog. Unfortunately here again, it loses tack of your face on a regular basis.

It's s totally different combat experience when the view changes as you move your head. It has taken a LOT of tweaking to get it to run.Īnd when it runs, it runs WELL. The 'pitch" settings (look up/down) also had to be set high. I found that I had to made the "yaw" settings pretty high to be able to look over my shoulders. Unfortunately, those settings only really get you in the ballpark. All that really means is it is recognized by IL-2 and there are ready made sensitivity settings for this sim.

Today I had the opportunity to fly offline combat with it. I downloaded FaceTrackNoIR last night and spent a few hours getting it set up. I posted this on another forum dedicated to IL-2:
